How to Actually Get a “Work-From-Home” Job Easily

Have you ever thought about how to actually get a work-from-home job easily?

If you’re like me, you may have thought about it from time to time, but quickly dismissed it.

Why?

You don’t know where to start!

Where do you even look for jobs like that?

When I first started, I had those same questions. I had to be careful of scams, but for the most part, there were several really good places to be found online. I just had to do a lot of searching to find out which ones.

In fact, in my post last week, I mentioned a recent article I read that lists 101+ sites that offer remote jobs.  Make sure you take a look if you want to know of locations that might have the perfect job for you! You can also find some great information here about work-at-home jobs!

So, once you know the places to look for work, do you have any idea how to actually get a work-from-home job?

No?

Neither did I.

So, I would like to give you some hard-learned lessons I gathered along my path to working remotely from home.

Go ahead and download my free guide “How To Exit The 9-5 And Work From Where You Want.

These will help you learn how to actually get a work-from-home job easily:

  1. There should be a difference in the way you apply.

    • You don’t need a resume…well … not exactly. The company needs to know about your past and your experience – just not in a standard resume format. They will want to know HOW you know things, WHAT you did with your skills, and WHAT type of programs you can operate.
    • You will not find them on a “click and submit” job-site (normally.) Remote companies are normally smaller business or solo entrepreneurs. They do not have the time to sift through thousands of resumes and letters. Instead, they might post on social media, to their company followers, with individual connections, etc.
    • Several times, I have talked with companies who posted a job opening. One sentence in the middle of the job description would tell the applicant to do something specific – to show they read the entire listing. Always take the time to read everything.
    • Email directly – rather than just hit “apply” – if possible.
  2. Applying is not about YOU.

    • Most of us have created a resume with everything we’ve done in the past, companies we’ve worked with, titles we’ve held. When working online, businesses are more interested in what you can do going forward.
    • Businesses want to know what you can do for THEM specifically. How are you going to solve THEIR problems? How are you going to take what you know and change THEIR daily life and/or business?
    • Show them your past results. Let them see the real you. Tell them how you make these results happen.
  3. Focus on the company as well as the job.

    • Normally, a bookkeeper in one company does the same thing as a bookkeeper in another company. An Administrative Assistant in one place needs the same skills in another place. Working for online businesses is different.
    • You need to really know the company. Believe in the company. When you work remotely with companies that have a smaller number of employees, you can make a bigger impact on the company. The mission fit has to match.
    • Your values and characteristics need to mesh well with the company that has the job. If not, you’ll definitely be able to tell it in your proposal to them. They will definitely know it.
    • Most companies are looking for passion and a mission fit. You can be that for them.
    • Look at connections and follows – see if there’s a fit – in who and what they are.

All of this feels awkward at first but once you get the hang of it, it really is pretty easy.

You CAN actually get a work-from-home job easily.

If you are dedicated, detailed, and a hard worker, companies are looking for you — HOPING you’ll want to work with them.

The hard part is not FINDING the companies to work for, it’s LEARNING if you’re the right fit for them. If you are, you need to show them how perfect you would be together.

Don’t wait…You can do this!!
