“But What I Do in an Office Can’t Be Done Online.”

“What I do can’t be done online.”

I hear this statement about working online all the time.

You may have said this yourself.

I know I did.

I thought I needed to be in the office – physically – sitting near enough to others to get the work done.

And, what about their equipment?

How would I share the data?

What about all the meetings?

And, let’s not forget the hallway impromptu conversations that wouldn’t happen.

Several Jobs Can Be Done Online

Not all jobs, of course, but several.

Maybe yours is one of them and you just don’t know it yet.

Would you work virtually if you could?

  • Do you love what you do but just want to do it on your own time frame?
  • Do you enjoy the tasks you do every day, just not the place you do those tasks?
  • If you could keep doing what you love but do it someplace else or in some other way, would you do it?

If you say, “Absolutely,” then I may have some great news for you!

Many jobs done in an office can now be done from anywhere.

They can be done from the road or from a hotel room.

Maybe you want to do those tasks from a campground.

All of these places are now possible.

You just don’t know about them yet.

But, I’m here to make sure you know the possibilities from now on.

Business Owners Need You

Most business owners need the same type of help to operate.

The difference is that some owners choose to hire a full-time employee that sits in the business space.

However, there are several businesses that need the same help but choose let their employee work remotely. Here’s a great article on large companies that do just that.

You can do your job, working virtually for a business as a:

  • full-time employee with (or without) the benefits
  • part-time employee with (or without the benefits.
  • freelancer that works for one business normally with no benefits
  • freelancer that works for multiple businesses normally with no benefits.

The business owner still needs help – just chooses to have the work done remotely (or virtual).

5 Jobs that are done in an office but can also be done online

Maybe one of these is what you’re doing right now and never thought you could do any other way:

  1. Bookkeeper

    1. Most companies need a bookkeeper.
    2. Some want a full-time employee that will work from home for only them.
    3. However, not all companies can afford (nor want) a full-time bookkeeper.
    4. They only need a few hours of bookkeeping done each week.
    5. A Virtual Bookkeeper would be perfect!
  2. Email Management/Calendar Management

    1. Most people’s email inbox is overflowing, and their calendar is a mess!
    2. Some people don’t have the time or skill set to keep these two items organized.
    3. However, they can’t afford to hire someone full-time to only keep their email and calendar’s organized.
    4. They then have to hire for other tasks that they normally wouldn’t pay to have done.
    5. A Virtual Assistant would be perfect. A Virtual Assistant would organize the calendar and the email inbox and nothing else. The company pays only for what they deem worth the money.
  3. Proofreader/Editor

    1. There are thousands of authors, teachers, and writers that are currently working on pieces of content.
    2. These people need someone to proof and edit their writing.
    3. Most writers are using all of their energy to create the writing, they don’t have the energy left over for proofing and editing.
    4. That’s why a Virtual Editor and/or Proofreader would be perfect. The work can be edited and finished without paying for anything else.
  4. Speaker Assistant/Scheduler

    1. Small speaker businesses normally try to do everything themselves.
    2. Since they are doing everything for the speaking engagement they often don’t have the time to FIND the speaking engagements nor do they have the time to schedule them.
    3. A Virtual Speaker Assistant can do these items for a speaker for a set number of hours each week.
    4. This way, the speaker pays for time to get more leads each week.
  5. Project Manager

    1. Small business owners normally have several projects going at the same time.
    2. The owner cannot possibly run the business and all of the projects at the same time.
    3. That’s where a Virtual Project Manager could be a valuable help to a company.
    4. The small business owner can hire a Virtual Project Manager for one specific project at a time.
    5. If the project is not going to make enough money, they don’t need to pay for additional help.
    6. It helps the company manage the project expenses better.

These jobs are often done in an office but they can also be done virtually for a business located anywhere in the world.

You can live in the United States and work for a business that is located in Spain. The business still needs their bookkeeping handled but they only have a need for about 5 hours a week.

They can afford that.

It’s a win/win for everyone.

Conclusion

I think we get stuck in the mindset that what we do in an office can’t be done online – because that’s all we’ve ever known.

But that’s not true.

What you do in an office might be able to be done online – in “any” environment you choose…from the backyard, from the campground, from the road.

You just need the computer and programs necessary to do the work.

That’s the easy part.

The hard part? Getting your mind wrapped around the possibilities of doing your job online.

You can do this if you want.

And, I can help you get there.

Stephanie
