Want Work-Life Balance? Start Working as a Virtual Assistant Today
Some of you dream about work-life balance.
Others of you crave it.
But, for most of you, it’s hard to have it.
What does work-life balance even mean?
I think the definition is different for everyone. But, for me, it’s being able to spend the amount of time I WANT with my friends and family, as well as the amount of time I WANT on my career. For others, it might mean something entirely different.
Wikipedia describes it this way: Work–life balance is a concept that includes proper prioritizing between “work” (career and ambition) and “lifestyle” (health, pleasure, leisure, family, and spiritual development/meditation). This is related to the idea of lifestyle choice.
Yep, a “lifestyle choice.”
So, if you are one of those people looking for this type of “lifestyle choice,” I want to encourage you to …
GO FOR IT!
You can absolutely have a more balanced work-life type of style.
Here’s how to get that work-life balance:
Stop thinking of work and life as two different things.
For years, I believed that on weekdays, I had my “work” and on evenings, weekends, and vacations, I had my “life.” They don’t have to be two different parts of you.
You can have work be your life – or the other way around – LIFE can be your work.
This is what makes becoming a virtual assistant so great!
When you’re doing something that aligns with your skills and passions, from a place that fills your cup (whether that’s your home office or a coffee shop), the lines between work and life start to blur in the most beautiful way.
That’s a true work-life balance.
Think about it – when you’re a virtual assistant, you’re not just trading hours for dollars. You’re creating a lifestyle that lets you be present for the moments that matter while still building a career you’re proud of.
That might mean scheduling client calls during your most productive hours, so you can be fully present for family dinner. Or it could mean taking your laptop to your kid’s or grandkids’ soccer practice, getting work done during downtime, and never missing a goal.
If you combine your work and your life by doing something you love, from where you love, at the times you love for both work and life, you can instantly know when they are out of balance.
Put another way – It’s easier to divide something the way you want when you have everything in the same bucket. When it’s all in the same bucket and you take more time than you planned on one portion, you instantly recognize that the other portion is getting less.
Choose “work” that accommodates your “life.”
Work can, if you want, be an extension or even an expression of your life. If you can find a way to work doing something that excites you or defines you, it’s a win for you all the way around.
As a virtual assistant, you get to choose your niche based on what lights you up.
Love organization and systems? Become an operations VA for busy entrepreneurs.
Have a knack for social media? Help small businesses build their online presence.
Passionate about copywriting? Offer email marketing services to coaches and course creators.
I chose to work remotely online doing what I love.
I can work from where I want, when I want, doing what I want. My life and work are intermingled and I balance them in the way that fits me best. The true definition of work-life balance.
You can do the same thing!
This is what I love about becoming a virtual assistant – it’s like having a “choose your own adventure” career. The beauty is in the flexibility to create a business that fits YOUR life, not the other way around.

Know that YOU can make a change to have more work-life balance.
Just because you’ve always worked a 9-5 job in a cubicle somewhere, working overtime several nights a week, and skipping special events because you couldn’t get off work in time – doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.
YOU can make the change for a work-life balance that is the way YOU want – not the way some corporation tells you it will be balanced.
I’ve seen women transform their lives by saying yes to becoming virtual assistants.
Moms who were missing bedtimes and soccer games are now present for every moment.
Career professionals who were burning out from long commutes now have time for self-care and hobbies.
Recent graduates who dreaded the traditional career path have found freedom and fulfillment working with clients they adore.
When you work as a virtual assistant, you get to set your own non-negotiables.
These are the things that make your heart sing and your soul light up.
For me, it was being able to work from my home office, take mid-day walks, and never miss important family moments.
What are yours?
Think about what is truly important to you in this life.
Is it being there when your kids get home from school?
Is it having the freedom to travel while maintaining your income?
Is it avoiding the soul-crushing commute that steals hours from your day?
As a virtual assistant, you get to design your business around these priorities.
You’re not fitting your life into the margins of your career – you’re building your career around the life you want to live.
Ready?
Here’s what I want you to know: You have permission to create a work-life balance you absolutely love.
You have permission to say goodbye to the cubicle, the commute, and the constant compromise of your time and energy.
The world needs more women who love what they do and where they do it. Because when we work from a place of joy and purpose, we don’t just change our own lives – we inspire others to do the same.
Ready to take the first step?
Remember, friend, the perfect time to start building your dream work life isn’t someday – it’s today.
And I’m right here cheering you on.
