How to Plan TODAY for the Life You Want TOMORROW – As a “VA”

Administrative Assistant Today – Planning a Move to VA Tomorrow

Do you work in the Administrative industry?

If so, you may have heard of working as a “Virtual Assistant.” Wikipedia defines a “Virtual Assistant” as someone who “is generally self-employed and provides professional administrative, technical, or creative (social) assistance to clients remotely from a home office.”

Have you thought about working from home or while you travel?

If so, you may have researched the term “Virtual Assistant” or “VA.”

Makes sense, too.

Most of the skills used in working in the Administrative field are the very same skills used to work as a VA.
The only difference is that the work is performed online.

OH, AND ONE MORE DIFFERENCE…
THE TOOLS USED TO PRODUCE THE WORK CAN BE DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT!

Prepare for New Programs

When I began working online as a VA after 20+ years working for CEO’s and Presidents (brick and mortar corporations,) the biggest challenge was not knowing WHAT to do as a VA.

Rather it was knowing HOW to do it as a VA.

The learning curve was huge here! Many of the programs VA’s use simply are not needed anyplace other than for online businesses.

I can’t overemphasize this enough! There is a learning curve to be sure!

If you’re currently working in a 9-5 job and are thinking about leaving one day in the future to try your hand at being a VA, I have some tips and tricks to help you plan for the life you want NOW.

Go ahead and download my free guide “How To Exit The 9-5 And Work From Where You Want.

How to Plan Today for the Life You Want Tomorrow – As a VA:

 1. Figure out what you’ll need to know.

a. Look at freelancing websites and see what programs are being requested by clients.

b. Ask current VA’s what programs they are using. I wrote about this earlier here.

2. Start learning the tools needed in the VA industry. If you still work a 9-5 job, you can learn online in the evenings or the weekends.

a. Most of these courses and tutorials are FREE or almost free.

b. Big Bonus: You can ‘rewind’ and ‘pause’ until you get it.

3. Try incorporating some of the programs into your work-life today. You’ll become more efficient and less afraid of performing them when the time comes.

4. Determine your strongest skill set now. Are there programs that will work well with that strength? Those are the ones to learn.

a. For example, if you love data input, excel sheets make you happy, or you love recording all information on your clients; then you would definitely want to learn the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) programs that many online business use.

Finally, when “tomorrow” arrives for you, you’ll feel more confident and ready to take that first step – because you planned for it today.

I did this.

And, you can too!
