Why Working From Home (Right Now) Is Not Always the Best Option

Why Working From Home (Right Now) Is Not Always the Best Option

Are you an older woman who is ready to leave the office and work from home?

Ready right this minute?

Don’t want to sit in one more commute?

Can’t stand the thought of one more day doing what you are currently doing?

Soooo over the same ‘ol work day?

Those were my feelings EXACTLY about three ½ years ago!

I wanted something different.

Something exciting.

But, I had no idea how to get it.

Until one day… it was GIVEN to me.

Let me explain…

I was “let go” from a job!

It doesn’t matter that I absolutely HATED this job. It doesn’t matter that I absolutely HATED the 45-minute commute every day sitting in a dead-stop line of cars. It doesn’t matter that I was bored and oh so ready to bolt the first chance I got.

I was still “let go” from this hated job!

This had NEVER happened before and I was completely caught off guard.

I was hurt, sad and angry.

But what was that other feeling I felt on the drive home that day? Was it relief?
Was it hopefulness?

Was it optimism about the future?

YES! It was all of that!

3 ½ years later, I can look back and tell you how extremely grateful I am that it happened.
I don’t know when (or if) I would have left that misery on my own had it not happened.

BUT…

There were things that would have been better had I CHOSEN to leave instead.

I could have prepared and been ready.

You can prepare and be ready

You can have a steady income on the side before you leave your job.

That’s what I want for you.

As one older woman to another.

If you’re ready to work from home and want to start right now, I hear ya!

But let’s get you ready FIRST!

Let’s make this an easier transition than getting “let go” or walking out unexpectedly one day.

Go ahead and download my free guide “How To Exit The 9-5 And Work From Where You Want.

LEARN WHILE YOU EARN

Working from home doing what you already know how to do or working from home doing something totally different, either way, there will still be programs, software, or just “things” you still need to learn.

It’s much better to have a constant income while you’re learning everything you need to know to start your new endeavor.

You can start your own business or you can work for other clients, but either way, learning is going to be a “must” for you.

Favorite Learning Sites

Here are a few of my favorite sites for learning. The prices are fair and some are even free:

  1. Udemy.com
  2. Lynda.com
  3. skillshare.com

The Muse, which is all about jobs and careers, lists all of the online courses they recommend. It would be a good idea for you to check it out when trying to decide where to go for online learning.

Learn new programs and grow your business while you’re still working your regular job and have money to cover your living expenses. You can work on your side “gig”  in the evenings or on the weekends (or both) and start growing your new “work from home” income all while you’re still earning an income from your day job. You can have a paycheck from your office job to pay for courses or equipment you might need to work from home.

STRESS-FREE WORKING

Have the money to “live on” while you’re building this new kind of life means a lot less stress on you and the family.
In other words, the family isn’t stressed they’re going to lose the house because you want to work from home.
You’re not stressed thinking about how you’re going to pay that next bill.

At this stage in life, you’ve become accustomed to living a certain way. You won’t have to be stressed about living a different type of lifestyle until you get your work-at-home endeavor off the ground.

Yep, less stress for you as well as for your family.

MOVE AT THE PACE YOU WANT AND AVOID THE PAINFUL MISTAKES

You can move at your own pace.

When you need to make that dollar and quick, you have to move things along as fast as possible.
In fact, you may make foolish decisions and hurt yourself more than you help yourself because you have to move as fast as possible.

After all, you need the money you used to have to live on.

Bad decisions can cost you more than ever.

With your regular job still paying the bills, you can “afford” to move a little slower and make decisions you are comfortable with.

Mistakes won’t hurt you as much.

YOU CAN ENJOY THIS NEW ADVENTURE

Keeping your regular office job, and working from home on the side, can make the entire endeavor more enjoyable.
Leaving the office as a mature woman can be scary no matter how well you prepare for it.

Don’t make it worse by rushing out the door because you’re sick of what you’re doing.

Start learning now.

You can start planning now.

Do your planning and working from home whenever you have some free time. This will get everything rolling.
Set up a business, gain some clients, have the money start coming in and see how each month is going to look.

Maybe you keep doing this for a while and grow that monthly income substantially. Then, when you’re comfortable with what you bring in each month, you can easily walk away from that job that you hate or are bored with.

CONCLUSION

I left the job not by choice but by force.

You can do it differently.

Do it better.

But just remember …

you CAN do it!

As an older woman, you can work-from-home and the income can be great.

I just want you to be ready when you start!
